The Little Aviator Cafe was located here but closed as of October 2024.

This is the second Apple Valley airport; the original one was located just north of the Apple Valley Commons shopping center and remains of the old runway can be seen off of Dale Evans Parkway between the shopping center and Thunderbird Road. The old airport was notable as being used in the Sky King 1950's TV series with a house near the airport being used as the home of the show's main characters.

I was based out of Apple Valley for several years, first renting planes through Midfield Aviation and then renting a hangar there once I bought my plane. It’s a really good GA airport for being out in the desert as it is - although close in desert terms to a residential area there isn’t anything but desert and distribution centers around it. With much of a westerly breeze you can get downwind eddies off of Bell Mountain just west of the field which can cause winds at each end of 18/36 to be almost 180 deg different and variable down the length of the runway.
