Description
  • Johnson creek is the premier backcountry airport in Idaho. The runway is extremely well maintained and all amenties for camping are provided including numerous campsites, firepits, firewood, showers, fresh water, WiFi access, and a refrigerator. During the summer two caretakers are present to maintain the facilities.
  • The town of Yellow Pine is a short drive to the north. Often shuttles run into town and back.
  • For the price of a short hike, a hot springs bathtub is accessible from the airport. The trail starts at midfield on the west side across from the maintenance shed (see photos for the sign). Follow it to the south and then about 400 vertical feet up the mountain. Be mindful while hiking along the trail as it crosses private property.
  • Please review the operating proceedures document before arriving. Takeoffs to the south are strongly discouraged for noise abatement of the house there (the owners of the airport's land).
