The Pasayten Airport was originally a USFS airport built in the early 1930s and used primary for firefighting activities. It was closed in 1968 after the creation of the Pasayten Wilderness.
Most of the runway appears to remain clear to this day. Since it existed prior to the Wilderness designation it may in theory be possible to re-open it. It has great potential as a camping location as well as providing recreational access to the otherwise mostly inaccessible Pasayten Wilderness to hikers.
